Muhammad Ali is one of the most famous boxers of all time and he was dominannt boxer during 1960s and 1970s. Muhammad Ali won world heavywieght championship thrice and later he converted to Islam for which he faced critism and even has to be out of boxing world for 3 years. Ali refused to serve in the U.S. military during Vietnam war, reason his Islamic faiths, due to which his title was revoked and he was sentenced to five years but conviction was reversed later.
How Muhammad Ali got introduced to boxing is also very interesting. Once he and friend attended a show and comming back they found Alis bicycle stolen. Ali reported this to office Martin and told him that he want to beat up the person who stole his bike, Martin told him that he should probably learn to fight first. A few days later, Muhammad Ali began boxing training at Martin's gym.
In 1971 he fought the The Fight of the Century against Joe Frazier and it was the first time Ali used his "rope-a-dope" technique. This match ws viewed in around 35 countries. The fight went the full 15 rounds, with both fighters still standing at the end. The fight was unanimously awarded to Frazier. Ali had lost his first professional fight and had officially lost the heavyweight title.
